Records artist Talib Kweli has just scored his highest debut ever-- #2 on the Billboard Top 200 albums chart with his sixth album, EARDRUM, which arrived in stores nationwide on August 21st. The album also debuted at #1 on Billboard’s R&B/Hip-Hop chart and #1 on the iTunes Hip-Hop/Rap charts. Above, see a picture of Kweli rockin' the crowd at his (filled to capacity) Amoeba in-store the night before his album dropped. Amoeba boasted that Talib's turn out rivaled that of Sir Paul McCartney's earlier this year!

Only one more week until Talib Kweli makes his WBR debut with the release of his latest album "Eardrum". Kanye West, Justin Timberlake, Norah Jones, UGK and Misq Soulchild all make an appearance on the album. Next Tuesday will also be the launch pad for "Blacksmith TV", a series of 10 webisodes hosted by the Brooklyn MC containing rare behind the scenes footage, interviews and music (trailer below). Kweli is currently on the Rock The Bells tour sharing the stage with Rage Against The Machine, Public Enemy, Wu-Tang Clan and Cypress Hill.

Talib Kweli had a challenge on his hands this weekend while trying to fill the massive main stage with just himself and a DJ at the Rock The Bells festival in NYC this weekend. He had a little help from his friend and Blackstar bandmate, Mos Def. Here's the duo throwing down their classic "Definition" in front of the sold-out crowd at Randall's Island.

At a recent concert at the University of Massachusetts, Talib Kweli slammed on the Eurhythmic's "Sweet Dreams (are made of these)" and then appropriately free styled a whole verse over the 80's pop tune, creating a mash-up not even DJ Z-Trip could think of.

Talib Kweli is the newest addition to the critically acclaimed Rock The Bells Festival, with headliners The Wu-Tang Clan and Rage Against The Machine. Brooklyn bred rapper, Talib Kweli, will provide concert-goers with songs from Ear Drum, his forthcoming album on Warner Bros. Records and his own label, Blacksmith Music ( scheduled for release this summer). With his sixth album overall, Talib hopes to educate the crowds, as well as entertain them.
