Just one more look at the Digital Only model...So Coldplay sells 700K in a week...Lil Wayne, tops 1 Mil in album sales in a week...What was the mix...From the New York Times...
About a third of the sales for “Vida la Vida” were for digital downloads. Lil Wayne’s album, on the other hand, sold about 10 percent digitally, which made it a blockbuster at brick-and-mortar stores, said Ish Cuebas, the vice president for music at Trans World Entertainment, which operates more than 800 stores, including FYE and Coconuts. “That drove a lot of traffic into retail,” he said.
Drop a CD and remove anywhere from 60 to 90% of a bands Sales channel...Nice.

Living the dream??? Major Label Debut?? Are we talking Panic at the Disco or Forever the Sickest Kids? Not talking Josephine Collective.
Not sure how the dream is Digital only release with no promo support?? (they go to make a live appearance on their home town Alt station and the DJ mocked them for being with the "big label" and getting kicked in the n-ts with a digital release.)
Warner steps out of the box, does a "Panic at the Disco" signing of JoCo...But while Panic's Indy label stays outside the box and gets them radio play before they've truly done a live show, Warner jumps back in the box and says to JoCo "go make a following."
Fast forward two years, Panic, millions sold, JoCo, sitting on a CD logging 50,000 miles in a van playing 100 seat venues...Wish I could say it's talent related, but it's not.
It's not even an indy versus major label issue...Forever the Sickest Kids basically formed as a JoCo cover band (7 members and all) after watching JoCo play shows in Dallas...
They sign to Universal a year and a half after JoCo signs and already have radio play, Warped Tour, video on MTV,PRINTED CD and an appearance on Late Night with Conan...
With the way this band has been handled to date, digital only is just another way to say black hole...
