Welcome to the maiden voyage of RICK'S PICKS; quite possibly an ongoing series of truly amazing music and rare video clips that remain a constant source inspiration for me personally and perhaps the qintessential reminder that we all have our own history with Warner Bros. Records. As we draw ever-closer to our 50th, I hope this will reignite some great memories and drive you back into your record collections. Today, you're geting a dose of my all-time favorite Warner Bros. Records recording artist's, THE FACES. I've got volumes of history & facts to share about them in particular, but perhaps...some other time. Suffice to say that from 1969-1975, "God's Gift To England," made the world a much better (and occasionally less-sober) place. Some suggestions Please? Check out a fascinating & hilarious book about life in The Small Faces (and later), The Faces entitled, "ALL THE RAGE," by keyboardist Ian McLagan. Also, you might want to Netflix "The Passing Show: The Life and Music of Ronnie Lane, " a heart-felt life story of one of the finest songwriters/bassists/personalities ever to emerge from a little island far away. Lastly, if you don't already own The Faces "Five Guys Walk Into A Bar" box set from our friends at Rhino, what's wrong with you? Here's a BBC clip of the classic track "Bad N' Ruin" from April 1971. Ah, Bless the lot of us!
